Story Thyme v1.16.0 – Multiple Sprites Update

Introduces support for displaying two sprites on each side of the screen, vertical sprite positioning, and improved staging flexibility for visual novel creators.

Multiple Sprite Support

Creating group conversations and more dynamic scenes just became much easier. Story Thyme now supports displaying up to two sprites on the left side and two sprites on the right side simultaneously, allowing creators to stage multiple characters without needing to combine sprites into a single image.

  • Added support for 2 left-side sprites.
  • Added support for 2 right-side sprites.
  • Each sprite can be positioned independently.
  • Existing stories remain fully compatible with the previous single-sprite system.

Vertical Sprite Positioning

Sprites can now be repositioned vertically, making it easier to create more natural-looking scenes, accommodate characters of different heights, or create unique compositions.

  • Added vertical positioning controls for every sprite.
  • Supports raising or lowering sprites independently.
  • Vertical position is saved per frame.
  • Improved compatibility with custom sprite sizes and positioning.

Sprite Editing Improvements

Editing character sprites is now more intuitive thanks to an improved frame preview that remains fixed while working in the Sprite panel. This makes it much easier to fine-tune sprite placement, size, and positioning without losing your visual reference.

  • Frame preview now remains fixed while editing sprites.
  • Makes adjusting sprite size and position significantly easier.
  • Provides a more consistent sprite editing workflow.

Under the Hood

This update includes numerous internal improvements to the sprite rendering system to support multiple simultaneous sprites while maintaining compatibility with existing stories and projects.

  • Expanded sprite rendering pipeline.
  • Improved sprite positioning logic.
  • Maintained backward compatibility with existing projects.

As always, thank you for using Story Thyme and for continuing to build amazing interactive stories!
